GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Yetis @ Sweets
Everest scores four in the top of the third to take a 5-1 lead.  It's short lived though; Walla Walla comes back with a nine run bottom of the inning and cruises from there to a 13-5 win.

Rougarou @ Robots
Roxbury sweeps the set from Lakeview.  Ke'Bryan Hayes' eighth inning lead off home run provides the winning margin for the Robots who squeak by tonight, 3-2, after an easier 6-1 victory in game one.

Hammers @ Rattlers
Windy City pitching gives seven free passes to Hawaiian Gardens hitters, but they hold the Hammers to just four hits and sweep the short set with a 2-0 shutout.

Frick Conference lead
Scurvy pulls out a 7-6 win with an eighth inning Yainer Diaz ground out; Bako drops its fourth in a row as GP's Andrew Vaughn touches up Bums closer Devin Williams with a game winning homer (Williams' first conceded run this season) to sweep Bako.  The Dogs take over sole possession of first in the conference.  Rumors of a goggle wearing, cork popping celebration in the Scurvy locker room for having finally reached top spot in the conference are still unsubstantiated (but believable).

Here's a mystery. Nestor Cortes started the game on 5/21. He faced 7 hitters in the first giving up 4 runs plus the first two hitters in the 2nd who both reached on hits. In total he threw 30 pitches. Then he came back and started the game on 5/22 where he completed 4 innings of shutout ball throwing a total of 61 pitches.

My question is why the SIM manager would make this decision?

Cortes did it on 5/10 and 5/11 as well.

The issue is that you have Cortes listed as a spot starter in the 2, 3, 4, and 5 positions (although the only one that is relevant is 4).

He did his "spot-start" for Wacha in the #4 spot in the rotation and then took the mound for his normal (scheduled) start in the #5 spot in the rotation the following day. Clear the spot-starts and problem solved!
