When will the minor league draft be starting?

I had in my notes for this league that the minor league draft starts in mid-July. Are we approaching the start of the draft?

For years we started in July. But recently we have waited until mid-August after all the signings are official. This year we will have a start date of Friday 8/16!

The draft will start later today!
Hopefully in a couple hours I’ll post the draft order and such. More to come!

The timing of the upcoming draft couldn't be worse for me. We are vacationing in the Porcupine Mountains in the Michigan Upper Peninsula starting 8/20 and I will be out of the office for a little more than a week. I'll do my best to keep up with the draft but I'm not sure what internet access will be while in the park. I'll do my best but I wanted to give you a heads up regarding my status.

Maybe I should have traded away a few more picks. :)

And I'm out of the country for work!!!  I always find this August date to be much more difficult than free agency.  But we'll do our best.
