At what point can Jesse Winker be signed as a FA ?

I see that Jesse Winker is going thru waivers.    If I claim him the Auk would be on the hook for his $2M contract.    If he clears waivers can he be signed as a FA for the league minimum $250,000 / 1 year ?      Auk has roster room after the Williamson waiver on our end.   Treat this post as a FA signing.

And to anyone scoffing at this signing the Auk OF vs RHP is batting well under .200 with OBP and SLG even more revolting.    The Auk's ownership strategy of building a playoff contending team with scrap pieces of plywood found in the garage and duct tape.

That is correct. If you claim any player via waivers you take on the entire contract - salary and term. If there are multiple waiver claims we’ll use the waiver priority list to determine who wins the claim.

If 72 hours go by and the player is unclaimed then he would be available to sign on a “first come, first served” basis for the league minimum for the remainder of the season.

Specific to Winkler - we’re still in the 72 hour waiver period at this point. So he’s not available to sign yet as a free agent.
