World Series Game 4 Results – October 13, 2024
Dogs Even Series with Dominant Performance

🏆 **GAME OF THE DAY:** Dogs Roar Back with 7-3 Victory Behind Ohtani's Heroics to Tie World Series 2-2

CITI FIELD - The Dogs evened the World Series at two games apiece with a thrilling 7-3 victory over the Auk at a rain-soaked Citi Field, powered by Shohei Ohtani's spectacular performance. Freddy Peralta battled through six innings, striking out seven while allowing three runs to earn the victory. The game remained deadlocked at 3-3 after both teams exploded for three runs in a wild third inning, but the Dogs seized control with clutch hitting in the decisive sixth and seventh innings to knot the series heading back home.

The Dogs broke the tie in the sixth inning when Daulton Varsho walked and Rafael Devers doubled him to third base. Jackson Chourio delivered the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly, and after a passed ball by William Contreras, Corey Seager grounded out to bring home Devers for a 5-3 advantage. The seventh inning belonged to Ohtani, who delivered the knockout blow with a majestic two-run homer to right field after Steven Kwan had been hit by a pitch and stolen second base. "Shohei came through when we needed him most," said the Dogs' manager after Ohtani's clutch performance. "That's what superstars do in October." Ohtani finished the night 2-for-3 with four RBIs, a double, a homer, a stolen base, and two walks in one of the great World Series performances. Pete Fairbanks and Matt Joyce combined for 3.1 scoreless innings of relief to preserve the victory, with Joyce navigating a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning. The Auk had taken a 3-0 lead in the third when Alec Bohm crushed a three-run homer, but the Dogs answered immediately in the bottom half when Ohtani ripped a two-run double and Yanier Diaz drove in another run to tie the game. Ryan Weathers absorbed the loss for the Auk despite working six innings. With the series now deadlocked at two games apiece, the Dogs have seized momentum heading into the pivotal Game 5 at Oracle Park.

Final: Dogs 7, Auk 3

Ahhhhhhh    So much for LHP Weathers shutting down a primarily LH hitting line-up.    Didn't do awful.   8 baserunners in 6 innings.   Needed to score more than three however.   Jekyll & Hyde Hoffman showed his bad side in trying to keep the game close.

So now we have game five still in Scuryville    Gil pitching for the Dogs.   So far this postseason in three starts he has gone 21.2 innings   6 hits.  Just 1 earned run and a 5-25 BB/KO ratio.     Would be nice going back to wind blown Auk stadium with the series lead.

I couldn’t agree more. I want nothing more than having the series lead before heading back to the Bay.
