SERIES HIGHLIGHTS

Three series to highlight this round.

Scurvy visits the hottest team in the league, the Rum Runners.  Great looks to continue their climb up the standings, heading to Hawaiian Gardens to take on the resurgent Hammers, who are 8-2 in their last ten.  After hitting a season low a couple weeks ago, Mother Lode has rebooted its season, but now has to deal with the team with the top run differential in the league in Santa Ana.

Scurvy @ Chicago
In the opening game, Chicago rallies back from a three run deficit and pulls out the win on Kyle Schwarber's 8th inning home run, his 17th on the season.  Scurvy ace Shohei Ohtani doesn't allow any rally in game two, throttling Chicago with 7.2 innings of shutout ball (striking out 12).  Daulton Varsho homers twice, including a 4th inning grand slam, and drives in six to pace the Dogs offense.  In the rubber match, Scurvy's George Kirby faces Tarik Skubal; Skubal getting the better of the match.  He completes 8 innings allowing two hits and a single run.  The Dogs try to comeback in the ninth, but an 8 run deficit is too much to make up.

Great @ Hawaiian Gardens
Great rides four homers in game 1 to the opening victory.  In game 2, the Hammers score early and often and hold the Auk scoreless until the ninth to even the series at a game apiece.  Freddy Peralta and Jon Gray match up in game 3, each pitching in and out of trouble but finishing their nights with the Auk up 2-1.  Great tacks on a couple insurance runs in the 8th and 9th to secure the win and the series.

Mother Lode @ Santa Ana
Three one run games lead to a very exciting series.  Santa Ana takes a 4-0 lead in game 1, but Mother Lode ties things on a pair of two run homers from Michael Harris and Rafael Devers.  Taylor Ward plates the winning run in the 7th for the Wolves who take the 5-4 win.  Game 2 finishes with an identical 5-4 score, but the tables are reversed when Bryce Harper scores the winning run in the top of the 7th for the Argos.  Sandy Alcantara faces Zac Gallen in the deciding game and Alcantara hands a 2-1 lead to the bullpen after 7 strong innings.  Sean Manaea is unable to hold the lead for the visitors though, giving up three runs while recording just a single out in the eighth.  Santa Ana weathers a ninth inning rally that sees Mother Lode pull within one and put runners on first and third before Bryan Abreu shuts the door to give Santa Ana the series win.
