Oct. 2-3

In the immortal words of Ernie Banks . . . "Let's play two!"

Tomorrow (Monday) I plan to run two games to keep us on track to finish the season this week.

Bako and Santa Ana both sit with magic numbers of 2.  Either or both could clinch their respective conferences tonight.

Sweets 5, Thunder 4
Sweets 6, Thunder 3

Tucson went cold at the wrong time.  Within a game of the wild card a couple weeks back, Tucson has dropped six straight and fallen out of the playoff picture, a rare occurrence in the southern desert.

Miners 6, Argos 2
Argos 4, Miners 2

Mother Lode takes the final game of the series, but the homestanding Miners win the series.

Rougarou 9, ACLs 5
Rougarou 4, ACLs 3

Rough end to the season for Ankeny.  Swept by Lakeview, the ACL's have dropped six straight and fallen out of playoff contention over the past week.

Robots 4, Madmen 2
Madmen 4, Robots 1

Madmen win the rubber match to win the series in Roxbury.

Dogs 11, Koi 8
Dogs 18, Koi 6

Scurvy bounces back from a game one loss to keep the pressure on Great.  17-0 after four innings in the final game, the mercy rule probably would have been nice...

Brewers 7, Yetis 4
Brewers 11, Yetis 1

Along with the road series win in Everest, Grants Pass takes advantage of Tucson's skid to secure the final wild card spot in the Frick.

Landlubbers 10, Rattlers 1
Landlubbers 5, Rattlers 4

With the home sweep, Ann Arbor climbs within one game of Brooklyn in the KML wild card race.

Sea Wolves 7, Kraken 4
Kraken 8, Sea Wolves 5

Kraken win the rubber match, a much needed series win with Ann Arbor still breathing down their necks.  Sea Wolves have to hope Chicago loses to clinch tonight.

Rum Runners 4, Hammers 0
Rum Runners 2, Hammers 1

Chicago does its job, winning the final two games against Hawaiian Gardens to force Santa Ana to earn the conference crown with another win.  The Rum Runners are still in the running.

Bums 5, Auk 4
Bums 5, Auk 2

Auk and Bums go into the ninth in game 2, tied 4-4.  Lars Nootbaar doubles to open the inning and Ozzie Albies follows with a single, but Mike Tauchman cuts Nootbaar down at home to preserve the tie.  On the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth, veteran Andrew McCutchen sends the Bums to victory with a walk off homer.  Bako clinches its fourth straight division/conference crown.
