Auk Capture First World Series Championship

🏆 **GAME OF THE DAY:** Auk Win World Series with 5-2 Victory Behind McCarthy's Heroics and Lugo's Brilliance

ORACLE PARK - The Auk captured their first World Series championship in franchise history with a thrilling 5-2 victory over the Dogs in Game 7 at Oracle Park, riding Brice McCarthy's first-inning two-run homer and Seth Lugo's dominant seven-inning performance. Lugo was magnificent under the brightest lights, allowing just six hits and two runs while striking out four to earn the victory and cement his place in Auk lore. The Auk jumped on Ryan Pepiot immediately in the bottom of the first inning when Alec Bohm doubled and McCarthy crushed a two-run homer to left center, giving the Auk a lead they would never relinquish in the deciding game.

The Dogs cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fourth inning when Bryce Harper launched a solo home run to right field, but the Auk answered with a devastating three-run fifth inning that effectively put the game away. William Contreras singled to start the rally, and after Corbin Carroll tripled him home, Marcell Ozuna walked to load the bases. Bohm delivered a clutch RBI single to score Carroll, and J.D. Smith followed with another RBI single to plate Ozuna, extending the lead to 5-1. The Dogs mounted a final threat in the seventh inning when Yanier Diaz doubled and Steven Kwan singled him home to make it 5-2, but that was as close as they would get. "This is what we've been working for all year," said the Auk's manager after clinching the championship. "Seth was unbelievable, and we got the big hits when we needed them. I couldn't be prouder of this team." Tyler Holton and Mason Miller combined for two perfect innings of relief to close out the victory, with Miller striking out two in a dominant ninth inning to secure the save and the championship. Pepiot absorbed the loss, surrendering five earned runs over five innings. The Auk's victory marks the culmination of a remarkable postseason run and delivers the franchise its first World Series title, sparked by McCarthy's game-opening blast that set the tone for the championship-clinching performance.

Congrats to Bob and the Auk. One of these years I’m going to stop being the bridesmaid.

The best team in the regular season won the title. That sounds like it makes sense.

Congrats again.

Thanks for your well wishes.    All three of my series could have gone the other way.   Especially these finals.   The random blips of the microprocessor that rules our fate in this DMB system.

Heck the Brewers were the team to beat on paper in this 2025 season.   I'm glad the Thunder took care of them as the Brewers have had my number these last two seasons.

Your Dogs are looking very tough in 2026 with Ohtani and Raleigh (and Harper, Devers and Dingler)    But that will be another slog starting in 2-3 months.

Thanks David for running the games.

Gotto go as Bruno is buying the first round.

Kudos to the Auk Machine.  Well done, Bob.  BTW, I hocked the league championship trophy and will be selling my blood to fund its return.  Be patient.
