Alvarez Salary Offset Appeal

So, Alvarez shows up at 69% but I would argue that the Astros delay in adding him to the disabled list after a significant hand skews his active percentage. If you based it simply on missed games (114) for two major injuries where he did go on the DL for extended periods, he would be just over 70%.

Here are the details regarding the injury.

On April 20th he injured his hand and didn't play until August 26th. However, the Astros didn't place him on the DL until May 3rd. That's 10 games. It was a serious injury that eventually led him to the 60 day DL.

I'd add, MLB only allows teams to retroactively waive a player by 3 days otherwise he would have been DL'd retroactively much earlier and he would have been over 70%.
